Michael Pomi
The Children’s Cabinet Board Chairman, Lonnie Klaich, announced that Mike Pomi has accepted the role of The Children’s Cabinet executive director. Pomi has been serving as director of Washoe County Juvenile Services and has a 28-year history in the department. He has led numerous collaborative efforts within Washoe County, including the juvenile detention alternatives initiative (JDAI), a preventive effort to redirect court-involved juveniles toward constructive options to detention.
“Members of our Search Committee were impressed by Mike’s energy and passion for kids and families in our local community,” explained Klaich. “While we had an incredible field of qualified applicants, Mike stood out among the candidates for both his skill set and commitment. We’re pleased that we can assure such extraordinary leadership for the next chapter of the Cabinet’s future.”
The Children’s Cabinet position of executive director became vacant when Meg Cleary advised the Board of Directors of her relocation to New Hampshire. Pomi will start in his new role September 8, 2009.

The Children’s Cabinet is pleased to present our Annual Report for the year ending June 30, 2008. We’re very proud to note that we were able to increase our support/revenue while decreasing our operating expenses – which of course means that we were able to provide more direct services to our clients. In fact, The Children’s Cabinet was able to directly serve more than 7300 families in the past year (an increase of more than 500 families from the previous year).
You can find all the details in our Annual Report (PDF).
As you may imagine, we have many success stories to tell from the past year. You can find some of them on the Annual Report, but this year we’ve also been able to capture some of our success stories on video. Please watch the short videos below to see how The Children’s Cabinet made a difference in the lives of people in our community. Also, Founder and Board Member, Michael Dermody, shares why he believes The Children’s Cabinet is worth supporting. For more information, you can also visit The Children’s Cabinet website.
